aT 74 AFTER a lifetime of fun, building, racing sidecars etc I had an accident wit a ladder and a slipping carpet and broke my back 4 weeks ago.
I have been bolt and pinned together I can now walk gingerly.
A lesson for others, internet access in a hospital is slow and I may not be on for a while, but I wanted to explain my absense, regards to all john Daley
Building accidents are no fun. I hope you get to feeling better.

As another 74 year old, I feel, as least a part of, your pain. I pulled a muscle in my back in May, it is healing quite slowly. No where near what you have encountered. I want to do some minor work on my chimney. But I keep having visions of sliding off the roof. Take care of yourself.
….give me coffee to do the things I can and bourbon to accept the things I can’t.
Yikes, John! I'm pulling for you, for a full, speedy recovery!

Thanks for your good wishes.
I am using a small tablet devise on a hospital bed table, its clumsy.
But compared with the first computer which was about 40 x 20 Metres in size and 2.4 M high its tiny like a magazine.
Sitting is difficult so I will not be doing much at the moment.
I have learned to walk again, I have had a bit of luck with how I fell and been visualising myself walking and doing exercises.
So I may be able to work again in 6 weeks.
I can sit more comfortably and so I may be able to write on the site regards to all.

I have been pushing and keeping just below the danger level and I am being monitored to keep it that way.
I talk to other patients who believe they are stuck and crippled. Some listen and watch me and others have not improved.
I can only show by example!
I have been busy with my engineering design and fly screen business as well, improving procedures etc.
I may need a holiday after this hospital time, so far
