Is there currently a way or would it be possible to make a way to refine searches?

My understanding of the search function is that I put a word in and it returns everything that contains that word in order from newest to oldest date.

It may be useful and easier to sort through the results if the search returned first topic titles with the word and then went to every occurrence. Or I could select "search titles" or "search all" or something like that.

If a thread exists that already covers this, let the record show I did try to search the word search in this category and did not find it....

Hi Josh, some people use google to search permies. If you use the advanced search function (should be a drop down option) then you can search just in titles or in particular forums. The search is very literal, not fuzzy, which can be a bit annoying. Have a look at this thread which gives some guidance.

Since you seem to know how search works in general, the thing you need most is a link to Advanced Search: https://permies.com/forums/search/filters/0

But note, the search tools here are a little wonky even at the best of times and it really is sometimes easier to use Google limited to the permies.com domain.

Now that Google uses AI, I find that is the best way to search for something on the forum.

Is there something you were searching for in particular that we can help you with?

Well before I made a new post on Popcorn, I had searched to see if any existed already. There were many pages of results so by the time I got several pages in, everything was pretty old so I went ahead and started a new thread.

In that new thread, you pasted in some existing threads I was not able to find.

Thank you! Google makes sense. This site kept coming up as I was researching before so that is how I came to make a profile.

It makes sense to use it that way.

And sometimes they come up in the similar threads that girbot finds!

She laughed at how small it was, and now it is even smaller. Poor tiny ad:
