I am going to be sinking a new sand point this weekend. The existing sand point quit working.
I can pour water down the old pipe and it will go down very slowly. If my thinking is correct, where it stops should be the top of the water table. When I drive the new point, am I supposed to just stop once the top of the point is under water? The old well was hooked up with some flexible pipe and has some splices in it so I was going to leave it down and just relocate the new one closer to the house so I can just hard pipe it all of the way to the pump. My thinking is to measure the old one and sink the new one to the same depth. But how do I know when I hit the optimal depth? I have seen videos on YouTube that say, put water in the pipe and it should exit as fast as I put it in.
