My apple tree is blooming and the blackberries are not even in sight, but I had a craving for my "famous" blackberry and apple crisp. So off to the market I went. I guess you could call it a pre-summer delight. Happy to post the recipe, if anyone is interested!
I'm sure people would love to see not only your recipe, but also photos and info of your apple tree. Where do you usually get the blackberries from? I used to love picking blackberries when I was in Wales but most years there are far too dry to be worth picking now I'm in Portugal.
My apple tree with the beginnings of a guild around it. The garlic did a good job of preventing the grass from growing under the tree. Not sure what kind of apples they are. Definitely green and I am thinking granny smith.
The blackberries are abundant here in the Rogue Valley. I cut these way back this year, but I am sure they will give me plenty of blackberries, certainly enough to make many berry crisps!
I've done apple crisps and blueberry crisps, but haven't tried blackberry yet. I hope to get my first harvest of blackberries this summer, so excited to give this a try.
I like the combination of fruit. Looks tasty!
