Have you guys come across any really good shorts about rocket masonry heaters? This one gets the idea across, though it shuts off abruptly. Does anyone have a favorite?

Fiddlehead Acres up in Alaska showed their wood use after their first winter with an RMH. They used about two cords.

Thanks Thomas! I don't think that playlists embed very well. But here is a batchbox I found.

Nice, that is a very early sidewinder design.
Note that it has a Peter channel secondary air tube on top of the firebox.
All newer designs use a lower secondary air channel, which offers a much longer life expectancy.
A very clean build.

Not sure if you spotted the latest super cool build by Uncle Mud , aka Chris McClellan,  but it is a masterpiece.  His video clearly shows the steps for a tiny house build in Alabama that could be scaled for any traditional house, I think. I am far from accomplished, but check it out

It is a fast build and inexpensive compared to the Shorty, for example, if local clay is suitable.  I love his low tech ideas about using basic roofing metal and air space to ensure a large thermal break, and his super small heated bench might be modified for a longer one or a bell.  How large is your house?

Hi Jeremy, I am unsure if this could be called instructional, but Donkey truly created a work of art here.  A 4 inch system with low tech materials but aesthetic aspiration, this stove even has  casserole lid door. One could say it's the best pond-for-pound RMH on the planet. Donkey, you're a genius!

With the photos and Q n A session, you can ascertain how to build one.  Does anyone know why this stove escaped Montana?  Are any clear step by step plans out there on the web?

Yes, this stove was disassembled.
Everyone thought it was beautiful, but it did not work out.
People staying in the cabin where it was located had trouble adjusting to heating with bricks.
They often went to bed cold, then woke up sweltering three hours later, opened a window, and woke up cold in the morning.
Also, the casserole door proved to be unreliable over time; it tended to break.

Jeremy, you might already have this on from uncle cy
This seems to use no superwool or hazardous material, but I think he uses refractory mortar on firebrick.  It's a mostly cob j tube.
