Growing up my mom kept the ketchup in the pantry.  Dear hubby's family kept the ketchup in the fridge.  I asked him why take up space the in fridge.

We quit buying ketchup and now only buy Chili Sauce.  It has a permanent spot on the table.

Mustard is also not kept in the fridge.

Wait, ketchup and mustard doesn't have to be refrigerated?

Huh...

I have something to read up on!

Yeah, that's news to me, too! We keep it in the fridge but we also don't use it up very quickly. I can see how in a diner, those condiments on every table would be OK being left out because they'd be cycled through so regularly.
