If you have ever wanted to get your hands and feet into some cob, or you have been wanting to come out to wheaton labs, now is your chance to do both! There is a bunch of cob work to do for the Allerton Abbey face lift, and we need lots of helping hands, feet, fingers and smiling faces to make it all happen. We will also be doing some straw bale infill for the walls of Allerton Abbey, so this is also your chance to try your hand at building with straw. Ernie and Erica were just here for a week to teach us the ways of straw and cob, but we are still learning, so we can all learn together.

You can come and camp on my plot and see what it is like to live in the ant village. This is a work party, but we can also make it a fun gathering where we get to meet and hang out with other permies, and spend some time livin' out in the woods. I've been enjoying playing music a lot lately, so I could even put on a show or two in the evenings. I will be hosting anyone who comes to help work on the cob project as my gappers, so you won't have to pay the gapper fee to Paul. I will provide some snacks and refreshments while we are working, and make sure everyone has plenty of water, but unfortunately I can't afford to provide meals. There will be kitchen facilities available.

This offer is open for the next month, or until we finish the Allerton Abbey project. If you are interested in coming out, please send me a purple moosage and I can make arrangements for you.

I can personally attest to the massive amounts of knowledge you will come away with if you go out and help with this project. I helped for ONE day and learned tons.

Also, the ants are all amazing and fun and there are lots of smiles and laughs that happen with this crew.

Cobbing is fun, especially the mixing it up with your feet part. It's a beautiful place - if you go, be sure to go pick huckleberries one afternoon!

So wish I could drop everything and go do this! SO want to learn it - and play with it aroud the farm here... esp with all the clay we have, and things I want to build. I hope you guys will post lots of pics and share your fun as you do this - I can live vicariously for now, right!? *sigh* My gardens, chickens, ducks and dogs won't let me just skedaddle outta here just now - but I surely do wish I could! *swoon* - cob! It's what I want to doooooooooooooooo!!! I envision a cob wall along the front of our place between us and the road one day... Yes. Yes. It WILL happen. Sending you great vibes for tons of folk not as constrained as I am to come and learn the great art and play, pick berries and enjoy the magic! Totally jealous of you all! Please DO post pictures!! What a generous and outstanding offer!!

Carol Anne and Jesse were in my office yesterday and I suggested that they do a "singles weekend" for folks in missoula - and maybe that could be extended into a "singles week" for people coming from further away.

I tried to think of some other weeks that could be fun. Maybe something in combination with a wild edibles walk. Or in combination with some natural fermentation. Or .... I dunno. But I think this is an excellent time for brainstorming!

Hello Jesse and crew!

Any chance that there will still be work to do mid-September?

Thanks,
Jake
