Hello all! I have been a semi-lurker to Permies for a bit now. We have our new cob oven in the last stages of process... so I thought this might be a good time to post something that could possibly be of a benefit to others. So. here is our first double chamber Ernie and Erica inspired cob oven. This is our third cob oven build but only a bit more complicated of the three builds. I am a sculptor so playing with clay I understand. Our campus is designed to make the most of free materials as often as possible. The foundation blocks were free on craigslist, some of the other materials were fairly inexpensive and the rest stuff we had on hand already.

Sorry for the facebook page link to the photo... I struggled for a bit and still could not sort out how to get a photo to upload.

No pictures showing up for me on that link - are the permissions set correctly? Maybe it's a private album?

I have been trying to figure out how to upload a photo directly from the computer.. but still can not manage how to post a photo directly. Guess that is the main reason I have not been posting much... can not sort the controls to be able to post photos. Would be great if anyone has some simple directions??

Thank you for the help with the photo posts.. I am sure I will get the hang of most all these post nuances during the winter time.

Looking good on the oven!
That door opening is flatter than some versions; flat is good for trapping a nice even layer of heat, hopefully it doesn't weaken the arch too much.

Look forward to more pictures once it's finished.
(I like the pretty finishes when people do them, but I have to confess the "first pizza" pictures are some of my favorites.)

We are in the process of building a second cob oven... one with a clay chimney and some more sculpting to make it more interesting ... then we will remove this one that we have worked on for the last month or so... then on to building an outdoor Rumford fireplace with a small privacy wall.

edit to add.... thank you for positive comments.. it is very encouraging.
