Hi, Everybody! We built a rocket mass heater in our off-grid cabin, following specs from Erica and Ernie Wisner's Rocket Mass Heater Builder's Guide and additional details from Paul Wheaton's DVD's. And, because we do that sort of thing, we made a lot of videos. Here they are for your viewing pleasure. We will, of course, update again when we actually finish the cob, but that won't be until the spring. Enjoy!

I had wondered while watching the videos on your channel if you were going to post them up here. Glad to see you added them to this site to further the RMH info available for folks on this site.

Hi Esther.  I am a fan of your youtube videos.  Someone already posted a permies thread with a couple of these a week or two ago.  Great to see your progress.  Best of luck on future endeavors with this project and your family.

Hey Esther & family, Great videos! I can't thank you enough for posting them. My fiance and I have plans to do something very similar this coming spring, so all the good media we can find is extremely helpful. i have few questions for you guys, if you ever have the time to answer.

1. How many Fire Bricks were used in construction?
2. What was the wrap used around the Fire Brick, and was that just intended to protect the brick during construction?
3. How long would you estimate it took (working hours) to build the RMH to a functional stage?

Thanks a lot again for your posts, we'll be checking our your blog soon!

Esther and family - thanks so much for sharing your videos here!  So cool to see the project develop.

Brian, I recommend getting The Rocket Mass Heater Builder's Guide for details about building your own - that's what this couple used.

You can get a lot of information about rocket stoves and rocket mass heaters here.

Just found your videos on YouTube the other evening and got hooked.  Very good work, I've done a good bit of timber framing and Nick did an excellent job.
