Just thought i would mention this one.

In the UK there was screened a TV series called " The Victorian Kitchen Garden " in 1987. They re - established an old walled garden, it was an insight into how things were before the world wars came and things in the world changed.

One thing I learnt from watching that is there really were steampunk Hügelbeets!

Thanks for that. I'm amazed this is already 30 years old, as I thought those 'real life back then' sort of programs were a relatively recent thing. Well, the re-enactment with actors probably is, this is still a bit more of a traditional type of documentary, I suppose.

The Gardner Harry Dodson was a real life Gardner who was time served in the big house gardens . I watched the program in 1987 and it was a joy to watch and listen to what he had to say.
Yes if you can build a wall around your garden it forms a good defence against most unwanted animals and the wall can be utilized too.

I just thought i would post it up , don,t know if anyone else has , enjoy.

I love all the BBC2 shows with Ruth Goodman as the historian, and two anthropologists. First one I watched was Wartime Farms, but I have since watched many others. This is earlier, but same heritage as those. Thanks for sharing.
