My friend "Dee" got a rash. It showed up suddenly, with blotchy raised red patches of skin that were very itchy and burned a bit when touched, but burned much worse when scratched. Her dermatologist couldn't get her in for several weeks due to the holidays and she didn't think it was bad enough to go the emergency room. She's skeptical of "alternative medicine," but after dealing with it for two days she asked if I had any ideas about how to stop the itching.

I recommended keeping the area of the rash clean and dry, and gave her some plantain leaf infused oil to put on it.

I gave her the advice and oil on a Monday. She said that putting the oil on the rash immediately soothed the itching and burning, so even if it wasn't what healed the rash it was worth it for that. She did her best to keep the rash clean and dry (it wasn't always possible at work), and applied the oil twice a day, starting Monday evening. She said all symptoms except some of the redness was gone by Wendesday evening and the rash was completely gone by Friday morning.

Patient #1 got a rash from an unknown cause. I was consulted as soon as the rash was identified and it was irritating but otherwise mild.

 - Your suggestions for relief (including, but not limited to)
     - Behavioral: keep clothing off the irritated skin and don't abrade the skin.
     - Food as medicine: Drink water
     - Concoctions: apply my homemade skin salve made with calendula, mullein, plantain, and yarrow to help with rashes.
 - Description of success (including, but not limited to)
     - What your friend actually did: salve was applied at 4:12p and 4:42p
     - How well it worked and how long it took to see results: by 5:27, the rash had cleared up completely.
