Epigenetics and Seed Saving: Breeding Resilient, Locally Adapted Plants by Alan Booker

From early experiences learning edible and medicinal plants, Alan developed a love of being outdoors and observing natural systems. By his early twenties, he was teaching wilderness skills, survival, and other nature connection skills. Today, Alan uses this background to help students more deeply understand natural ecosystems in order to become better designers.

In addition to teaching the PDC, Alan also provides consulting and workshops on earthworks, soil remediation, composting, forest gardening, holistic management of pastureland, keyline design, aquaculture and aquaponics, off-grid energy systems, and natural building systems.

Alan is the founder and executive director of the Institute of Integrated Regenerative Design, which provides education and research in support of regenerative communities.

In this 2 hr lecture recording you'll dive deep into:

-Breeding plants that are genetically capable of adapting to changing circumstances
-Maintaining the microbiome during seed saving
-Using Metagenomic Analysis to understand the HGT in plant ecosystems
-Gene Expression
-Carefully selecting plants for seed production
and so much more!

Is this not available for purchase in Canada? When I click to buy it asks if permies would have to pay GST? I don't know why I wouldn't have to pay the GST/HST myself. Would the seller have to pay my country's tax? I could pay the tax if it were added to the cost of the webinar..
I would really like to listen to Alan on this topic.

Marvin,

When you say "GST/HST" is that the same thing as "VAT"?

A canadian friend is telling me "yes, same as VAT".  Here is our thread about that

https://permies.com/t/137817/VAT-digital-market

We have been able to come up with a bit of a workaround.  We post the video at a service that does the money fondling, including VAT - so the price is higher.  And, of course, the service charges a lot for dealing with the VAT, so the price is higher again.

Let me check with Beau and see if we can get that set up.

Is it possible for those who backed the Kickstarter and had free access to this webinar, but missed it due to Life… get free access to this replay?

I have this question too. From the way the emails read, it sounded like the intent was for me to be able to access this recording as a Kickstarter backer, but it's prompting me to purchase. So there's either a mistake that's not giving me access, or I've misunderstood the emails. I'd like to know one way or the other.

Sorry for the confusion - from the beginning of the kickstarter, the intent for this was the live webinar only, as detailed in the webinar thread and in the kickstarter faq here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/paulwheaton/garden-master/faqs#project_faq_414089

Because the recording worked out, and we were able to obtain all the requisite permissions, we have made it available as a $5 upgrade to people who had access to the recording via this thread: https://permies.com/wiki/194153/Webinar-Breeding-Locally-Adapted-Resilient#premium

I watched the live presentation and took some notes, then turned them into a couple of lightning talks with Powerpoints.

Here are the Powerpoints, for those interested:

- Epigenetics
- Holobiont

Why does your bag say "bombs"? The reason I ask is that my bag says "tiny ads" and it has stuff like this:
