The Feature: Notifications!
The idea is that when someone likes one of your post, you get a.... notification. This would be a tiny popup-like thing at the bottom of the screen. At the same time, you would see a recent list of these events under a notification button.
You may have noticed that we have this new button at the top right corner, which kinda doesn't go away when you scroll.

This is where the notifications accumulate. When people like your post, you will see they build up under this button, and you will see them as unread notifications:

When you click this button, you can see a list of your posts people liked. Clicking this button also marks all notifications as 'read' and the button turns back black.

You will also see a tiny popup at the bottom of the screen as soon as someone likes your post. This is the most important part as it is known to give bursts of dopamine :)

If you click this popup, it will take you to that post.

Until now, I have my profile setting send me an email when I get an apple or a thumbs up.
I liked the anonymity of that.
I wonder if I will limit my 'thumbs up' giving now that it is not anonymous anymore?
I probably give out too many anyway

I wouldn't have expected to feel this way but there was a certain freedom in giving them out secretly and now it feels a bit self conscious?

Perhaps as a PIE feature?
I like that...choices are good.
Maybe this change had something to do with making us more mindful when we click on a 'thumb'?
Sometimes I give a 'thumbs up' just because no one else has or because no one has answered the post and I think it would be nice for them to know someone 'sees' them but I don't feel like answering myself.
Usually I give a thumbs up because I think it's a good post and sometimes in a healthy 'cider press' discussion I want to deliberately take sides but not otherwise participate. Sometimes I don't see why someone has a 'thumbs down' and want to balance that....and sometimes just to thank someone.
...all sorts of reasons, maybe not all 'good' ones and really no big deal

Now I'm wondering if a 'thumbs down' giver is ID'd also?

Thumbs down should not give notifications.

I fully agree. As someone else mentioned, perhaps it would be a good idea to have a choice to stay anonymous or not when giving a thumbs-up.

Is there a way for me to tweak what alerts show up there? I'd love to have new post alerts on all of my bookmarked/watched threads. But I have not found any way of doing this.
Does anyone know if that can be done?
Thanks very much!

It's on the wishlist of new features.
Perfect - Thank you very much!
