This week Erica Strauss will be joining us to talk about all sorts of food preservation techniques, cooking tips, and home-making in a modern world!

There are four copies of her brand new book, The Hands-On Home up for grabs.

Erica will be stopping by on the forum over the next few days answering questions and joining in discussions.

From now through this Friday, any posts in this forum, ie the food preservation forum, could be selected to win.

To win, you must use a name that follows our naming policy and you must have your email set up in Paul's Daily-ish email.

The winner will be notified by email and must respond within 24 hours.

Posts in this thread won't count, but please feel free to say hi to Erica and make her feel welcome!

Hello, Erica! I am a blog fan, and am so pleased to see you here. (wait a minute, I think I checked out Permies based on a recommendation from your blog! So thanks!)

I just got my copy of your book in the mail, and I absolutely love the feel of it in my hands. The photography is beautiful, the writing is engaging, and it has a ribbon bookmark! Such a lovely piece of art it is.

And, oh yeah! Great info too. I have shelves and shelves of homesteading how-tos, and have already learned cool new stuff from this book! Thank you!

Welcome Erica! I loved your blog even before I moved to the PNW.

I'm hoping to see you in a week at Powell's, but I'm scheduled to cook for 40 people that day, and I may be ready to crawl into bed by 7pm. . .

Hi Erica! And welcome to the forums! I am looking forward to checking out your profile and your new book. Food prep & preservation, a huge interest of mine, is an area where I need a lot of learning.

Hi friends! Thanks so much for having me! I'm looking forward to answering questions this week, and chatting food preservation, productive home-keeping or whatever else.

Julia, I do hope to see you and other PDX peeps at Powell's! Please say hi (and remind me you're a Permie) if you can make it.

Erica! My favorite member of Jack Spirko's Expert Council. You always sound so professional - no "umm's or ahhh's" from you. Keep up the good work neighbor. Thanks for offering the free books!

Welcome, I also love your answers at the survival podcast!

I live i Sweden but my aunt lives in Gig Harbor and I will try to infect her brain with the gardening bug by giving her links to your blog and youtube clips!

Best regards from Sweden

Hi Erica! I'm so excited to see you answering questions here - I've been following your blog for about three years now (found it looking for homesteading blogs when I was doing a lot of sitting around and nursing my newborn son at the time) and discovered permaculture because of a mention you made of hugelkultur awhile ago. I'm loving your contributions to the Survival Podcast lately, too.

So I ran the winner picker app in the forum software and we have 2 winners.

Emilie Thomas-Anderson
and
John Saltveit

Congratulations Emilie and John!

I sent you an email to ask for the email address of the person that first referred you to Permies.com. That person (if qualified) will also get a copy of the book and a permies care package.

Congratulations to John and Emilie! When are you picking the other two winners, or are they the people who referred them to Permies?

I just got my copy in the mail today. I'd almost forgotten about it, so when I got an unexpected package with quite a bit of heft to it and realized what it was, I literally exclaimed, "Oh boy!" out loud to the empty room. I've not done more than flipped through it yet, but it's a beautiful book and I think I'm going to really enjoy it. Thank you again!
