What do the "Resolve" and "Ignore" buttons do?

I suppose I could just press the Resolve-button and find out, but I'm one of those scaredy-cats who hesitates to press buttons for the fear of doing some irreversible damage

I'm talking about the Resolve-button above a thread.

Oh, and I think I recall having seen an "Ignore"-button somewhere too. I cannot see it anymore though. Maybe it was a feature of an older version?

Hmm. I may be blind? Or, I am too newbie to have been granted one yet - as I get more apples and pie, new things become available. But I don’t think I have a “resolve” button? Oddly, I do have an “ignore” button. I have not used it yet, but I assume an ignore button would work here similarly to other forums - it allows you to remove an uninteresting thread from your list?

I believe that the "Ignore" button does keep specific threads from showing up for you.

I think that the "Resolved" button is unique to the poster of each thread, which are theoretically questions or problems that are "solved" or "resolved" by posts answering the initial query.

Thank you!
Let me see if I got this: "resolve" is the same as "unwatch",
but "resolve" is for your own threads (threads you started yourself),
and  "unwatch" is for threads you just posted something in, but did not start?

I think that's how it works Nina.  If you started a thread, you can "resolve" it.  That doesn't really do much because people can still read and comment on the thread.  If you see a thread that you'd like to get updates on, you can "watch" it.  When you get sick of that you can "stop watching" it.  Watching allows you to get updates without having to post to the thread.  I'm not sure about the full functionality of the "ignore" button.

I'm pretty sure that you can't mess things up too bad by hitting buttons unless you have staff powers.    Count your blessings!

I tried it a few times and what I noticed was that the thread disappears from the 'recent topics' list but there is still a faded indicator that says 'ignored' in it's place.  I found that reading that made me curious and I would open the topic in spite of having 'ignored' it
