I have to admit I wear my heart out on my sleeve and sometimes speak without thinking about possible implications of what my words might mean to others. we all have different lived experiences that I guess give us each a point of view that is different.
has anyone else had friction with others by speaking how they truly feel about things, like good and bad and what's right and what's wrong things like that. does any of this make any sense?

People are gregarious and sensitive to other people's feelings and tend to hash out ground rules for relationships that newcomers often run afoul of.

Given that species survive thru dispersal it's no surprise that we're wired to repel outsiders and non-conformists.

My problem tends to be the opposite.  It's not that I am shy, but that I do have a slight tendency to become a doormat, trying to be nice to everyone and not rocking the boat.  This has got better as I have got older, and have gained more confidence in my knowledge and abilities, but I expect I would still feel uncomfortable around you Bruce.

Everyone has their own perspective. I think I wear my heart on my sleeve but people think I speak with a filter on/like a politician.

If I like and trust a person I am open. At the same time, people have feelings and a bit of tact goes a long way. However, I have had to practise my communication skills to be this way.

Well, the world would be a boring place if we were all the same, wouldn’t it now!

When I was younger I was very up-front about everything, to the point of being almost cruel with the truth. I do not lie, and I don't tolerate liars or thieves so I made it a point to call out such behavior.

Now I am a bit older and I still do not lie or steal, and I expect others to do the same. However I tend to be more diplomatic with my words, I choose my battles more carefully. I make a note of untrustworthy types and only associate with them if necessary, the friends I have are of excellent quality. I can trust them with my life or my families life. I reserve my emotions (for the most part) for my friends and family, and do not show all my cards to everyone.

As for playing well with others, I try and be courteous to everyone. Even the people I do not agree with. I like to tell people I have a mental list, everyone starts at zero on that list and its up to you to go in the positive direction or negative.

I know that if everyone gives more than half in a relationship it will succeed.

My friends tell me all the time..” you have no filters.”

Don’t care.  Take it or leave it.

My natural inclination is not to play well with others.  But, I came to understand that just because I generally do not enjoy interacting with others, it does not mean that I am somehow prohibited from treating others well.   If I can help someone else along through life, even to a limited degree, that is certainly better than being harmful.  No, I am not rushing out to save the world.  I am just trying to make the part of the world that I come in contact with a little better. That has to be better than ignoring it or making it worse.   So, as I do interact with others, online or elsewhere, I ask myself if my statements and actions are helping or hurting.

I have impulse control issues. I tend to speak before thinking. Also, if you want to do something and mention it you better be ready to do it because I will have it planned out for the very next day/weekend.

I don't mind confrontation at all. So if I have a problem with you, you'll know it. I also don't bother with people I don't feel like are worth it. I've had a few friends where I decided they were more work than they were worth and just full stop never thought about them again.

I do want friends though. I'm a bit lonely.
