The idea is to expand the earlybird thing from previous kickstarters into:

  super earlybird
  earlybird
  six rounds of "bonus"

Suppose we have 40 fun things to offer in the earlybird stuff again.

So maybe we offer all 40 things as super earlybird (first 3 days) - complete with a "click here for details" and in the details we point out that 35 of those things will be offered later.

Then 35 things for the earlybird (3 days) - complete with a "click here for details" and in the details we point out that 30 of those things will be offered later.

Then 30 things as "bonus goodies" if you back in the next three days - complete with a "click here for details" and in the details we point out that 25 of those things will be offered later.

Then 25 things as "bonus goodies" if you back in the next three days - complete with a "click here for details" and in the details we point out that 25 of those things will be offered later.

etc.

If you look at this chart you get the idea that we did well in the first few days - probably because of the earlybird.   And the last few days - mostly because of the stretch goals.  In the middle we got a lot of visitors, but not a lot of backers - so I am curious if this "bonus" system will make a difference.

So I'm wondering if we offered bonus goodies throughout the kickstarter, maybe we would keep those numbers high for the first 20 days or so.   I think that this will change nothing for the people that are on our mailing lists, but it might make a difference for people coming to the kickstarter from other directions.

Just yet another experiment - my noggin keeps coming up with this stuff.  What do you all think?   Good idea?  Bad idea?  Ideas for optimization?

I'm thinking its a great idea.  Even on day 15 when someone visits or hears the pitch, they are getting something extra and if we make it clear that they'll get less stuff in 3 days they might pull the trigger then instead of waiting and forgetting.

Was the little bump just past the midpoint of the kickstarter related to anything?  Maybe a monthlyish?  That seemed to be the start of the avalanche...

ideas for names of the rounds ...

  super earlybird (29 things)
  earlybird (26 things)
  last chance earlybird (23 things)

and then we go into the bonus rounds - basically the same thing but with less stuff.  But we need a name.

  birdy bird
  flirty bird
  dirty bird

I guess I am trying to avoid "bonus round" and I like the bird themed image.

Any other ideas?

How about after the early bird rounds we just say Bonus Goodies

And then in the place where it says "Now through Sunday at 2PM Mountain Time", we make that bigger so that they easily see that the Bonus Goodies expire soon.  They won't have the "early bird" concept to indicate it's expiring but they will see the deadline looming easier...

I love the bird theme. All the backer birdies get some “worms”, but the earlier the bird, the more/tastier the treats!
