Hello from Lincolnshire in the UK.

I'm Michael and I came across your Forum while searching for other people interested in 'Bottle Cutters' as the amount of enthusiasts in this hobby are pretty rare or good at hidding on the net.

I looked around after signing up and was surprised to find lots of other topics I've shown an interest over the years. But 'Bottle Cutting' is my main hobby at the moment and would like to talk to folk about that subject in particular.

I'm in the process of building a motorised version at the moment, but being slowed down by the weather as its snowing here for the next couple of days and I can't get out into the shed to work. At 80 the cold seems to affect me more than others.

Anyway I look forward to chatting with other members about all this 'Bottles' in the near future.

Thanks a lot.

Welcome to Permies, Michael.

Just looked-up bottle-cutting, and I'm fascinated...! How did you make your start in the hobby? Do you keep them as drinking glasses, make candles in them, or something else?

Hello Michael, Welcome from a fellow Brit, formerly from Oxfordshire, now on Skye. I'd love to see what you can do with bottles, there are some lovely pictures online, but it's not something I've done anything with myself. I love the durability of glass and all the colours when it catches the light. Do you make useful or ornamental objects or both?
