What the heck are the "apple awards" and how did I get one? It looks like a possible rip off of Yahoo's infamous gold badge awards; but do tell! I am not even sure I want one...it looks so sad and lonely all by itself.

Info.

The why is, from my experience, being helpful or providing useful information.

Edit: Or being dumb, I got one for falling for the April fool's joke where everyone had 42 apples.

Haha,

Thank You, Ben! Time will tell which category I stumbled into! But, again, either way, I am not sure how I feel about just one... looks like a brain fart by itself like that, lol

Everyone (except Paul ) started out with just 1. A sign of things to come?

Hi Joe,

As I have transplanted to a zone that I am quite ignorant in; I suspect my moments of "brilliance" to be few and far between in the immediate future. But, then I may have gotten my lonely apple for taking the lady seriously about buying camels for milking, lol

Apples aren't just awarded for good posts. Being helpful by reporting spam tends to encourage them, too.

We love spam reports.
We're also exceptionally happy when people hit 'report to moderator' if someone's not nice.
Or you could use the report button to give us the heads-up that you think member/post is awesome and deserves an apple!

@Leila

Oh! If I had only known! There are so many I have read who should have a bushel of 'em! My bad, I thought reporting was for the negative side; did not realize it was for the positive, too! When I have time, I will go back and try to find some of the gems worthy of apples for awesome content.

Cortland, as you go back through you may see some posts that have an apple, not only under the posters name, but also along the top of the post. This will show that that particular post earned an apple.

As Miles pointed out, a post that earned an apple will show it by the Date/Time stamp, i.e.:

Actually I just kind of made that up on the spot; the negative thing was getting to me!
Always nice to get positive stuff show up to balance things out
