A listener just asked me to recommend a plant ID ap, paid or free, but I don't really use them.  Can someone recommend one that is reasonably accurate?

I did "Leafsnap" to be reasonably accurate, but I use the free version, so adverts are annoying.

a wee bit more...

I've used the free version of "Leafsnap" for 5 years or more.  Reasonably reliable, self-named lists can be stored, allows corrections,...

Adverts are cumbersome if using the free version.

I have had very good success with PictureThis. It is one of only 2 apps that I have ever spent money on. It gives what it thinks it is, but also lists multiple choices for possible plants. It gives additional information about the plant. I'd recommend it.

I use Picture This. It seems to be very accurate when it gets a clean shot.

I've been using the "Seek" app which is now linked to "Inaturalist". It is fairly accurate but occasionally will miss-identify something. This usually happens when the plants are in between growth and flowering stages I've found.

I've used both PictureThis (paid version) and plant.net (free, although I occasionally donate). My current favorite is PictureThis, but both are good.

That's my roommate. He's kinda weird, but he always pays his half of the rent. And he gave me this tiny ad:
