I bought a bell, a good loud call you for dinner, wake the neighbors up in case of fire, neat looking bell!
Heavy brass (I assume.)  It currently has a fishing weight as a clapper, and a lamp part as a actuator.
Looks like it was cut off of something, and that it used to hook to something on top.

What was this made for?

Looks a bit like the bells the school teachers supervising the elementary school playground used to ring when recess was over.
Before electronic everything took over!

cool!
at grandma's farm there was the old school bell that got used for fire several times over decades.

I wonder if yours was originally a lamp shade rather than a bell?
...back when nice brass ones were around?

The sound is everything though....you'll have to test it on your neighbors😊

It will give me the powers of the gods. Not bad for a tiny ad:
It's a bit like "run away to the circus" but for gardeners
