Montana PDC's in 2015

Hi everyone - This is my first post. I've been learning a lot through resources here (thank you!) and elsewhere but am wanting to get more hands on. I was wondering if anyone knew of any PDC's in Montana or in the Northwest USA in early 2015 - possibly January or in the spring?

Okay, I have to ask....what is a PDC??

Marsha I am glad you asked ! It is a Permaculture Design Class.

Some of the permies are trying to put together a list of words that we may not all be familiar with and PDC should be on there , huh?

thanks Miles. I get really tired of trying to figure out all the letters instead of words. What ever happened to saying what you mean? Guess I am getting old and not into all the new way of communications.

Oregon State University has an online Permanente Design Course and an Advanced PDC. Both are taught by Andrew Millison & Co. Reasonably priced, excellent material covered, & an intuitive & collaborative learning environment. As a "graduate" I highly recommend it.

I didn't know about OSU's permaculture design course! That sounds like a great option, thanks Andie. I heard that Geoff Lawton's online PDC was pretty difficult to get into because of its popularity - but doesn't mean I can't try! Thanks Miles.

@Andie - have you taken the advanced PDC? I looks wonderful. I'm taking it because I want to design a water harvesting project for my neighborhood, the lower part of which flooded in our excessive rains this year (Phoenix). I'm also right next to the AZ State Fairgrounds so some sort of collaborative project with them would be good.

A very big maybe. Timing and cost would be determining factors.

Would prefer a personal pdc rather than online.

I would be willing to pay for a PDC - especially if it were local. Traveling for a PDC is tempting but I would rather understand my own climate/soil/plants than learn about a subtropical region or something. A hands on PDC would also be the best option for me.

A PDC is being planned to be held at Heartsong Retreat Center, nr Tum Tum, WA, where we had the September 2014 Inland Northwest Permacuture Convergence. Great location, .

Timed for this Spring, PDC scheduling is pending feedback from those interested in attending.

Personally, I'm looking for any PDC that could be PARTIALLY completed online - I have 1 week to travel this spring, and my work will send me to the course, but I only have that 1 week to get certified.

Geoff Lawton should be offering his online PDC around the end of January 2015 FYI.

it'd be neat to see a map with different biomes and where all of 2015's pdcs fall. is there already a central list any where to work off of?

I'm currently shopping for a pdc this year and I wouldn't mind making a pdc map to help others.

We are in the process of formalizing our inaugural PDC from our permaculture farm in Hamilton,
MT, with ideas to offer later this year. Would attending prefer a weeklong intensive or something spread over a few months? Would you require local lodging or commute as needed? Any other info is appreciative as we try to formulate an option amenable to all interested.
