Environmental effects on plants

This has been bugging me for years,

I understand that plants of all types are amazing co-inhabitants with all life forms on earth. That's exciting to know however, I have concerns for the future.
With all the 'Stratospheric Aerosol Geoengineering' going on globally non-stop for years (see link below for further info.)

Have you noticed or have concerns for negative effects on plants? With all the out of control toxicity in the environment, can plants really continue to filter, be healthy and overcome these challenges?
My fears are that overtime, (at least at this rate) all life might become severely compromised.

Any hopeful insights?

The reason I think people are looking into geo-engineering is because they would prefer to do back-end control of problems (i.e. cleaning up after the fact) than front-end control of problems (i.e. stopping problems before than happen).

I think it would be better to avoid any geo-engineering because it does not treat the problem at the root. I think they want to treat the symptoms:kinda like that trite phrase about medicine treating the symptoms but not the cause.

Feel free to comment if I sound too crazy, but to avoid a climate crisis, I think it would be imperative get the ball rolling on restoring damaged lands, increasing the carbon capture of cities, and permaculture-fying the world as soon as possible which may possible require the help of guerrilla gardeners- maybe even guerrilla permies.

Dave I agree, but I think it may be necessary and appropriate for man to step in and intelligently engineer in order to avert total catastrophe in some situations. Ocean acidification is an example. I'm no chemist but My recollection is that the products of an acid base reaction is SALT WATER.

This may need to be moved to the Ulcer Factory, meaning no disrespect to the OP or anyone who has jumped on this thread already but may not have enough apples to discuss it there.

I am no expert, but I have done some research on the chemtrails issue. And it leads me to believe that there is currently no spraying going on. (Though there may be soon if some mad scientists get their way. )

The main reasons I don't believe in chemtrails are:

Old photos of contrails, and references in old books;

lack of agreement among believers as to what is being sprayed and why;

pictures of aerial firefighting and crop dusting equipment being mislabelled by proponents;

Physical impossibility for current airliners to suddenly carry that much extra aluminium, in addition to their usual payload;

And, the fact that airline pilots did not suddenly notice a difference in the behaviour of their craft. Tons of stuff spewing out the back of a plane would radically change a plane's behaviour, as would the extra weight. And if it the trail was not normal, they would have also commented on that.

There are a lot of other things we should be worried about right now, I think.

Well, kinda the last grasp response: making the planet inhabitable for the human species does not necessarily imply the extinction of ALL life on Earth. This means another species, if all fails, will get a chance to take our place, and maybe they will learn our mistakes through archaeology and paleontology and fare better than we are/will.

At the moment, history is still in the making, as it always will be. Trite and true: history is the infinite summation of events, and consequently, the present is always making the past, and heading for the future.

So, the best advice I can really give about this topic is probably for people to go out and do something about it instead of waiting for other people to solve their problems. I am not trying to be mean; I am being pragmatic. It is more efficient, in my opinion, for people solve problems (e.g. poverty, climate change, protection) from the local level and unite from there instead of doing a top-down approach. Also, if people want to control their futures, well, they have to actively participate in making that future.

So, if people are afraid of geoengineering, the best solution is to start solving the problems that got us all into this climate change mess at the roots.

Without a doubt, I strongly believe in not focusing too much on problems - that's only discouraging and tiring.
Working towards doing what we know works and what's righteous is absolutely mandatory!

But to make it clear that these issues are real and truly affecting us right here and now in a very serious way can not be glossed over.

In any case, if they are spraying, they will have to stop as they run out of energy.

If they are spraying aluminum, there is quite a bit of natural aluminum in most soils. It is only a problem for plants if the pH is low, as it is in New England. (That is one of the reasons low pH is a problem.) Low pH can be fixed quite easily, at least on a small scale, by adding limestone, crushed sea shells, chalk, or wood ash.

And as mentioned above, I don't think it is currently happening. Either the pilots know about it (in which case it would have all been busted long ago) or they don't (in which case they would have suddenly noticed a change in their aircraft behavior.) I have read lots of chemtrail sites, and none of them covered this.

Also, the chemtrails sites claim that our current screwy weather is caused by this; but in recent history there is even screwier weather on record, that was too early to be caused by chemtrails. Dust bowl, year without a summer, etc.

And finally, there are tons of old photos of persistent trails out there, and books from the 40's claiming that contrails can last for hours.

But I think we can all agree that some people would like to do this, and it is a horrible idea, whether it is a current reality or not.
