Thought I should share this gem of a reference book.

I wouldn't recommend the old way of making ice.

Beekeeping has changed considerably too.

Sometimes though ... especially for permie type folks ... the old ways are the best.

Enjoy.

Old books are one of my primary targets when I go junk stores.   Of course, just because an older book makes a claim doesn't mean it is factual. I have found numerous tonics with mercury as an ingredient.  Maybe they work, but I'm not trying them.

The most educational book I've ever possessed.

Excellent file thank you very much!

The problem with these things is English has drifted so far,

John mentioned how often old books suggest the use of mercury. Corrosive sublimate is another one. It's mercury chloride!

Found a copy of The American Frugal Housewife from 1833, at the 2nd hand store and it has so much good information that it makes up for anything that hasn't stood the test of time (or science).
