Was just walking around the yard and noticed a lot of tiny mushrooms in the lawn.

Got me to wondering if the Hen-of-the-woods by the old oak stump was doing its thing.

Turns out, yes ...yes it is!     Would've let it get a little bigger before harvesting, but was happy enough to have found it before the slugs. :-)

Will be a good week to go hiking, maybe I can find some more,

A beautiful 'Michigan Porcini' I found several weeks ago a mere 30ft from the shore of Lake Superior. I was under the impression that this mushroom was called Boletus chippewanesis, but I was told they are now being named simply Boletus edulis.

We received about four inches of rain here in western Oregon last month and have been blessed with a very productive fall mushroom season.
