This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the wood badge in Plumbing.

In this Badge Bit, you will build a wood fired hot water system that has pressurized water in it.  Yes, there's a much greater issue of "Boom, Squish" when the water becomes pressurized but that's highly dependent upon your design and how you execute it.

Here's one style described by Geoff Lawton:

Minimum requirements to satisfy this BB:
  - if a batch system, 30 gallon capacity
  - if a continuous flow system, 2 gpm capacity
  - 140F temp
  - easy to winterize
  - means for automatically relieving excess pressure/steam in a safe location

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, provide proof of the following as pics or video (less than two minutes):
  - the parts you're starting with
  - the progress at 3 points during construction
  - the finished water heater
  - evidence of 2 gallons of 140F water out of the system in a minute
  - description of the design and how it works
  - description of how it will handle over-heat conditions and/or steam safely

I respectfully submit that the minimum requirements also include:
- means for automatically relieving excess pressure/steam in a safe location

(I have worked alongside pressure engineering professionals for two decades. Basically, confined steam = TNT. Plan accordingly, folks. Safety above all.)
