This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Homesteading.

For this BB, you will be cleaning up messes made by prior owners or tresspassers (2 points per cubic yard)!

Here is a related video:

Clarifications:
  - not piles of dirt, topsoil, gravel, rock or other natural materials
  - not fallen trees
  - must be cleaned up in an environmentally responsible manner

To document your completion of the BB, provide the photos or video (<2 min) of the following:
 - the area(s) before being cleaned up
 - part way through cleaning up
 - the area after cleaning up
 - description and picture(s) of the number of cubic yards of mess cleaned up

I purchased the adjoining property and spent about a year cleaning it up.  I took many dump trailer loads of recycle metal to be recycled.  Total weight of recycled metal was 50,736 lbs (14 loads of 7'x14'dump trailer = ~98 cubic yards under estimating at 2' depth) - not including the 9 vehicles or load of metal pictured above that were recycled.  Almost an equal amount of garbage was also picked up and disposed of - a total of 43,620 lbs to be exact (15 loads of 7' x 14' dump trailer = ~105 cubic yards under estimating at 2' depth).  This included nasty stuff like creosote logs that had to be chopped into short pieces to be accepted by the transfer station.  This weight didn't include a few dump trailer loads of containers of unknown chemicals that went to the hazardous waste collection center, as well as over 400 tires that went to a two different tire recyclers.

Can you earn this badge cleaning up a mess on someone else's land/public land? I found that someone dumped a whole bunch of trash in the woods on publlc land, and I want to know if cleaning that will count for this BB.

Heroic work plunger man. Please allow me to introduce you to this tiny ad:
