This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEA curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Community.

Having non-related people living at the same address is kind of like living in community.  Let's see if we can live with someone for 8 months without resorting to violence :)

Minimum Requirements:
  - Have the same roommate for 8 months
  - Assigned dorms, spouses and “shacking up” counts

Provide the following:
  - Substantial proof that they were your roommate for 8 months

Putting the 'spouses count' comment to the test to try to earn this 'roomate' BB. I am not sure what counts as substantial evidence, but here is some information from my blog and social media, posted over the past decade.

I've had the same 'roomate' (aka wife) since 2011.

We met on a weekend activist course, became friends, then started dating. I knew she'd be 'a good fit' because we had the same core values while also balancing each other in how we approach and react to things.

We got married: https://riotflower.wordpress.com/2011/07/11/when-something-is-everything/

(Several times! See https://riotflower.wordpress.com/2013/04/22/wedding-series-thanksgiving-wedding/ and https://riotflower.wordpress.com/2014/10/24/married/)

Have lived life: https://www.instagram.com/p/CREM02LB_5l/?utm_medium=copy_link

And bought a house together: https://riotflower.wordpress.com/2021/08/16/homeowners/

[Previously posted this under 'get a roomate' but moving it here, as it has been longer than 8 months]. Submitting for the BB.

That looks pretty darned good to me except it's a bit unclear that you are roommates (though I'm sure you are).  Are there a couple posts you could directly link to that are time stamped (>8 months apart) that seem to show you living at the same place?

No worries. I found this tricky because I didn't share our faces online in the early days, and haven't posted many of us just in our house/garden, trying to maintain some level of privacy (so haven't shared photos from the front of our homes, for instance).

I can imagine that this component might be difficult for many others working on this BB, particularly for those in on-going living situations or in potentially recognisable areas.

What I've been able to come up with includes:

1. A blog post from the year we moved in our own place. Mentions my wife and our home: https://riotflower.wordpress.com/2011/10/17/a-fine-spot-of-outdoor-dining/

2. A post 8 years later about the photo album we were making to prepare for adoption. The third thing in the slide show is a blooper video of us in our home, singing: https://riotflower.wordpress.com/2019/03/07/adoption-photo-album/

3. An instagram post the same year about parenting with my wife. The indoor photos are at our home: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw5BcjLl6su/?utm_medium=copy_link

4. An instagram post one year later (9 years after the original), showing a 'music festival' we staged for ourselves in the yard while in Covid-19 Lockdown: https://www.instagram.com/p/CCvjrTsgOr8/?utm_medium=copy_link

Thank you.
Staff note (Mike Haasl) :

I'll certify this BB complete!

Please see the attached photos and the dates on the photos. This is my now fiancé who I met in college. We moved in together into our home after college which was my childhood home. We took over the property and split the bills. She juggled going to law school while I worked and we both split household responsibilities. We got a dog together and fast forward to today we will be married in October. Getting a roommate was a great plan
