For 5 years, we've held an "open yard" in the fall, always lasting 3 hours. With a new baby and very little decluttering going on, we won't have it this year so here's proof from a past year.
We advertise on Facebook and invite family and friends to come eat our food and take our unwanted stuff. Our neighbors and my mom also add their items, so it's not just my stuff. And a couple of people have brought things to swap with me. Leftovers have gone to a thrift store or a charity yard sale.

I have started organizing free swaps in my village, first at my home, today at the local sports club's place for the first time.
