David Hammond : I need to start this off saying I have no special information about any future time when a second batch of DVDs will be released !

If you look to the right just above the title line Reply to "Wood burning Stoves 2.0 Kickstarter'' you will see that we are on page 4 of this thread.

The good news is to be found at the bottom of page three of this Thread. The people that pre-payed through Kickstarter to get individual DVD Copies of the
much awaited Series, should be checking their mail boxes now, people who are waiting for the whole 4 DVD Video set will get taken care of in a follow-up 2nd
mailing!

The Bad news is, ( and this is where you are only getting what I think ), After the initial batches of mailings, which is the final step and only represents
the tip of the Ice Berg, there will be a much deserved break while new plans are consolidated on how to go forward from here !

Patience is a virtue ! Again the mailings are fact, the future of any further Printings for people who have not pre-paid for the DVDs has not been determined,
or if it has it has not been shared !

For the Good of the Craft ! Think like Fire, Flow like a Gas, Dont be the Marshmallow ! Questions, comments are solicited and are Welcome Big AL

Thanks for the details Allen! I'll be waiting for more info about the DVD's. I'll post a thread when I get time, but my main interest right now is replacing my propane turkey burners for putting up food, canning, etc., with some kind of rocket stove/pocket rocket....

I know that USPS stuff that used to take 2 or 3 days now takes 7 to 10 days. They are cutting their expenses and things are getting slowed down.

hey folks, it's Bart

So just so you know. The DVD have been ordered in batches, so not everybody will receive their DVD in the same times. Just bare with me, it's a tricky thing to manage everybody around the world, getting to ship sometimes to Japan, sometimes to Poland.... But that's how awesome this community is. On top of it, there is sometimes custom holding practices and very different efficiency in postal services.

Their is also a bunch of people that didn't answer the Kickstarter survey or the personal email i sent them a couple of weeks ago. If you didn't, please contact me at bart@richsoil.com with your name, address and detail on your reward. But be sure first that your talking about Paul Wheaton DVD. Some people contacted me for an other Kickstarter campaign not create by Paul.

Also, if your interested by buying or renting the DVDs, i'm not the guy !

Hope you will enjoy the DVDs as much i had fun editing them !

All the best

BART

The people that paid for the kickstarter got the 4 dvd set for $100 including shipping. Unless they were outside the US and then it was $120. So the 4-dvd set it now set up for sale where you have to pay your own shipping. And so far it seems like shipping is super slow unless you part with the bigger money.

I'm also having a hard time understanding some of the stuff here, so right now this is experimental. I would like to get one or more people to buy the DVD set through this link and report back how it went. Click here.

In other news, later today I will be setting folks up with the streaming option. That was sold in the kickstarter for $90. If folks send me $99 via paypal (paul at richsoil.com) and provide me with your youtube ID (which is the same as your gmail address for a lot of folks) then I will test that path too.

The other DVDs are currently for sale as the four pack. Or you can get streaming.

Selling them individually .... they will be available for sale eventually, but the price will be higher than the kickstarter price. They will be $32 each. So the three you don't have will be $96. And the four pack is currently $100.

I remember about a month ago I was waiting for a check to arrive. I was starting to get a little suspicious that it wasn't sent. It showed up a week later than I suspected. I talked to a guy that worked in the mail industry and he said that USPS has overhauled their innards to save money and things that used to take two days are now taking about two weeks. So I think we are experiencing that.

Think that sucks? My mail carrier wears a horrid smelling perfume in in such quantity that it permeates all the packages she delivers. I'm just hoping the DVDs are packed in an outer box to protect them from the stench. I literally have to unpack all boxes outside so that my house doesn't stink like a skunk at the Macy's perfume counter... and diarrhea. It's worse in winter when she keeps the car windows up. Delightful woman in all other respects though.

True story. I work for a local courier service in Portland, OR. We do daily mail delivery for a variety of businesses in downtown, picking up from the post offices. From our interaction with the post office, I've watched the degrade of the USPS, it makes me sad. The post office didn't really start falling down until a couple years back. But on a happier note, USPS dropping the ball is one of the reasons our courier business is doing so well.

The USPS started bleeding money when they were required to pre-fund the health benefits of future retirees up to 50 yrs in advance, but were not allowed to raise postal rates any faster than the federal consumer price index. When they've proposed closing offices or ending Saturday delivery, congress stops them, although they won't mitigate the unusual pre-funding requirement.

Sorry if that's too political, but the USPS is dealing with a lot more than the rise of email and electronic bill payments. They're trying, but in so many ways their hands are tied. I don't work for the USPS, but I feel for them. I think they should be given more freedom in dealing with their current situation. There are services that post offices provide in other countries that would be really useful in the more rural parts of the United States, but they are not allowed to innovate (well, is it innovation if you are copying another system?) unless Congress approves.
