BRK Day 91

Yesterday was morning junk pole fence day and road shaping. In the afternoon Clayton and me filled up Judy to irrigate the base camp hugels and returned to gardening there after: watering asperagas Josiah and me planted at the end of March, along with chop and drop.

BRK Day 92

Yesterday we completed all but 4 sections with the four attached vertcials!  This means on Monday, there will be nothing left but the gates and filling in all the sections with unattached junk poles!  This is a big deal to me personally given the fence only had four posts in the ground when I arrived. The junk pole fence at Alterton Abbey is to protect the food there; we've made hugels on the west side and heavily planted those hugels inside that fence line....the chance of getting a large amount of food off of the hugels with the cats on patrol  inside the fence line is fairly good. The junk pole fence is a great deal of work and we hope to replace it with a living fence as soon as one can be grown.

In the afternoon, I refreshed the batteries, emptied the memory, sorted pictures, and posted from the game cameras  -you can view those pictures here.

I'm really glad to help create Paul's working model for a single acre to showcase for Wheaton Labs at Alterton Abbey....of course, I am working on my own living model On Narrow Pond.

If you'd like to join my supporters of On Narrow Pond, my pay pal is orin.noch at gmail or you can use librepay via the link below.  You could also send one of these items! -Thank you William Shlegel, Greg Martin, Kerry Rodgers, and Pearl Sutton for your support!

oh, and I did a little tractor work too:

BRK Day 93

Camera acted up yesterday so I'm putting up pics from the past 90 some days I haven't posted yet....refreshed the shop's rocket mass heater's firewood stock; added more wood to the FPH garage/library outside rack, added some wood to the rocket water heater....then helped Fred plant 17 trees on his lot

BRK Day 94

Wow this weekend went completely contrary to any and all plans!  However, Josiah, Jen, Fred, and me finished getting 50 1 year old tree seedlings in on Saturday as mentioned, Josiah had his birthday weekend, Vention showed up and started work on the Falcon, and Clayton and I went to Saint Ignatius to pick up an entire pickup load of glass.

Traveled just under 300 miles this weekend and 100 miles was done at 50mph given the load of glass....that is a lot harder than you think, try it some time :)  Got to hear some horn music but the glass arrived in the same state it left St. Ignatius.

Yesterday we went to load all of the junk pole that Simon, Jonathan, and me cut down. Did road work on Ant Village Circle. Had a crowd for taco Tuesday and then got some design time in!

BRK Day 97

Here we are in the midst of Summer.....the days last from 5am to 10pm easily....no wonder there mornings we feel so sleeeeeepy  -ahhhh but we can sleep when winter comes when the days are so much shorter and colder!

Got another load of junk pole yesterday....then finished the first stretch of road shaping on Ant Village Circle...

Alterton Abbey's fence is being filled in bit by bit, or should I say pole by pole. Except for the gates, the fence is able to keep out deer at this stage but not turkeys (good thing as the turkeys are brooding their poults right now).
