I got the care of three  acres of which one third has gone wild into a forest with all kinds of growth: Acacias, Palo verdes, vines, berries. So I planted a 5 ft Avocado tree in there, after clearing some dead branches and she is doing better than the Avocado tree I planted in the garden where there are just beginning trees and little wind protection and the leaves got blown off. My dream:  a food forest but it takes years to grow, so I plan planting more in the forest which is 1 acre. Taking the lawn out around the house for a veggie garden with still baby trees is tasting good. I am gardening all by myself, and would like to make this into a permaculture study house where people can be free to try out their notions of growing and building and working things out between people as a people growing project, Nice 3 bedroom house. Could make it into a farm here way South in Texas, near the Caribbean and a Rio Grande pond in the backyard. I like to share my acupressure and herbal skills also as a 30 yrs Licensed Acupuncturist who practises no needle acupuncture

Hi Apolonia,
That really sounds idyllic. I have really windswept land here on Skye, so really appreciate some shelter too now my trees are growing. No hope of avocados here though!
So are you looking for people to come and live on the land with you? A few pictures would be great!

Do you have prickly pear, agarita, and chile pequin?

Those would be wonderful additions to a food forest.

Here are some threads to get you started:

Prickly Pear

Agarita

Chili Pequin

Rosemary would be a great addition, also:
