I don't have a clue who this company is, nor do I care, but this is a GREAT commercial!
I'd love to know how they did the graphics...

I wonder if they're dairy cats, or if they're being raised for catmeat? Not easy to find a cat that takes to hand milkin' without a fight...

This was originally a Super Bowl commercial.  I loved it from the first time I saw it!

its got to be cgi. I dont quite have a herd but I do have a pride of cats and if you have been around cats you know they avoid water, at least mine do. and they are all outdoor barn cats. I cant image that a cat would swim across a river I cant even image they would ever want to go in. maybe im just too serious the whole thing was made as joke I guess to get peoples attention.

Our first cat, a Maine Coon, swam pretty regularly. I would not say he loved to swim, but water never blocked his path. He would calmly go through it ….even if it involved swimming.

As for herding cats, our first Border Collie would frantically run around the yard and chase all the cats into trees whenever Coyotes were near.

I had a cat that I taught to swim when he was young, he had no problem with it. He also learned to take a shower when he needed it, when he got into things he didn't want to wash off his fur. He'd just step in the shower with me, I'd bubble him up with shampoo, he'd rinse off, step out, shake off, and go find a sunny place to groom himself.

Cats are like people, they vary in their preferences and habits.

After I first posted the video in the first post, I looked it up, the cats were real, but only around 50 of them, they were trained to run to food on command, and the footage of them running was edited into many cats going places.  I forget what the ad was for. Not relevant to my enjoyment of the idea of herding cats.

John F Dean mentioned his Border Collie herding cats. I worked at a goat farm that had a very good herd dog, you could tell her to go get people by name, and she'd bring them to you. Or you'd be working and she'd come dancing at you, running circles around you, nipping at your heels, and you knew someone had told her to go get you. I was living in a van, and had a mom cat with 3 kittens who were a few weeks old when we got there. I taught the dog "Go get the kittens" and she'd come back, herding 3 small pissed off and hissing kittens, who were then given fresh goat milk as we were milking. Didn't take them long to learn to come without arguing and hissing when the dog summoned them!

Yes!!  One of my standard lessons when we get a new pup is to teach the older dogs to “Find. Xxx”.   It has saved me many many searches.
