I'm currently in Los Angeles looking for a better way of living. All I know of is The Garden in Tennessee, Black Bear in Norcal, and ... Slab
City! I did apply and get accepted into an established IC '
eco village' but it ended up being one man running an AirBnb work camp. He wasn't being kind to his animals from what I've read. I was so sad it didn't work out. I'm ready to leave the city.
I don't know much about homesteading and I grew a garden, once. I would need training and time to grow into a self sufficient
permie.
I don't have much except for a cat, painting skills, ashiatsu skills, a car, and a few records. I'm currently working alone making
online vintage sales but I feel the clock's ticking and I need to get out there and work in the sun doing what makes sense to me. Which is eating well, staying healthy mentally + physically and curbing my wastefulness. I don't want to be part of a cycle of suffering where a banana I eat was grown and picked by someone in poverty countries away and transported by ships that pollute the ocean. It's about time I live what I believe.
I grew up wanting to be an artist, went to an
art college, traveled a little, wanted to be a healer so I went to a healing arts college, did that for a few years and then the beer flu hit. My cat and I have been cooped up in a small apartment for 3 years trying to avoid the craziness of LA shenanigans. We might be shy and a tiny bit scared at first but I know we have it in us to live a natural life again. I'm 32, grew up in Southern California and prefer a warm and dry climate. I've been called back to Korea many times by family but modern Korean culture is too fast. Plus it's freezing in the winters.
I will labor, cook, clean, do any task a small lady can do using leverage. Being able to trust my setting
enough to work to my best ability is crucial. I'm very much an idealist but also try my best to be realistic/ practical so I will do lots of research before I make a move.
