So I am attending a friends baby shower next weekend and it's part Halloween party I guess and costumes are highly recommended.  All I can think of is to dress up like a tree, haha.  Does anyone have any ideas that might suit a permie like me?  I should mention I prefer costumes I can make somewhat easily, compared to store bought.

A farmer (overalls+bandanna+straw hat)
A hippie
A crazy chicken owner?(Farmer costume but with feathers lol)
A hermit?
A mountain man
A cowboy (hat+bandanna+plaid shirt) is always classic.

I think it's great that people are thinking about this. Most costumes are all artificial plastic and fabric and we really don't need more of that in the world!

Do you know any mechanics your size? Borrow a set of coveralls and carry a tool-box? It seems to me that permies spend lots of time fixing things because we don't like to throw things out?

What things scare a Permie? Maybe an oil baron? Or a patented strain of corn?

Going as Scarecrow from Batman is pretty straightforward. Wear an old suit with some burlap and jute over your head.

I love your idea for coming up with something not bought from a store.

Here are some suggestions:

Hobo
Scarecrow
Pirate
Train Engineer
Gardener
Clown

Some of the funniest costumes that I have seen are the couples themed costumes like:

Bacon and eggs
Peas and carrots
Ken and Barbie
Cowboy and Cowgirl

Football Player and Cheer Leader
