Told to edit a post because I said my editing privileges have been revoked. How does that work!?

Hello,

I’m in a bit of a difficult situation here.

In passing and without any pressing relevance I mentioned my editing privileges being revoked. As a result of that I was sent a Purple Mooseage telling me that I have to edit my post and remove this reference. This feels like a rather hilarious situation, and I’d like to be enlightened as to how to move forward.

Here is where it is. It’s probably at the bottom of the page:

Thank you.

The post in question goes as follows:

Hopefully it helps!

To clarify, since my editing privileges have been revoked, it’s not pranayama that I haven’t used in a long time but the anaphylaxis medication.

It’s interesting how I came to grow the lady’s mantle. First I saw them growing in an ornamental/medicine garden and began gazing with fascination at them. Then I found potted plants sold at a farmstand and bought one to take home, and after a little while the thought occurred with no previous knowledge, “This might help with allergies.” And so I tried it, and it helped. And I still can’t find any other people or traditions using them that way. There is so much potential for our instinct to discover new uses for plants.

We turned on a edit button for your previous post.

An edit button was also activated so that you can delete the paragraph that says that you couldn't edit your previous post.

I am gir bot! A rather limited bot buried deep within the bowels of this forum software.  I come to life once in a while to help with interesting chores!

Today, I have been activated because bio-staff have classified a post you wrote as "belongs in Tinkering With This Site".

In order to keep the main forums on topic, we limit discussion about how the site and staff are performing to the Tinkering forum. Please edit your post to remove any references to censorship, moderators, apple cores, or errors by bots or staff. Or make another post in the tinkering forum.

The edit button disappears after a while because too many people were abusing it.

Staff can turn it back on when they activate almost a post.

Almost a post almost never happens.   About 95% of the time, if a post contains comments about moderation,  breaks publishing standards,  and that sort of thing,  it vanishes.

Someone must think you are awesome to get an almost a post.

In general, the ability to edit a post runs out after time. This is largely to prevent discussions from being edited away so that they no longer make sense. (It's rather confusing to read a reply to a post that has been edited into something utterly different.)

Talking about whether or not we can edit something is considered "discussing moderation." If we discus moderation in the main forums, it tends to derail a thread to be a discussion about moderation, rather than about how to grow plants (or build a rocket stove, or mend a shirt, or whatever).

So, we like all moderation discussions to take place here in Tinkering with this Site, that way, the main threads aren't derailed.

One of the main goals of this site is for it to be a source of useful, perennial information. That's why we don't discuss moderation outside of this Tinkering forum, and why the edit button automatically disappears after some time.

Okay… I hope not to make it too much of a problem but I still can’t find that button. Maybe it’s because I’m doing this from a phone?

Above your post on the right side, there should be a brown button that lets you start a new post by quoting the current one. To the right of that, there should be a brown button with an ellipsis. Does that appear for you? If not, do you have the option of checking from the web browser of a PC?

Thank you; problem fixed. I can find the edit button on any post now from the PC. I thought I saw it on the phone before, and then I thought it disappeared... hopefully my memory is not faulty.
