Stove picture

Would some of you stove guys and gals look at this, just a brainstorm, idea for incorporating rocket stove design into a cooktop and over for outdoor use? Opinions and advice?

(I can't seem to get the actual picture to show up.)

Hi Judy;
I looked at your drawing.
It appears to be an L-tube design with a 6' burn tunnel.
Part way down you have a steel plate to use as a cooktop.
Beyond that, and just before the riser you show an oven.
Just my opinion, I may be wrong.
I do not think this design will perform as quickly or well as you would like.
Here are my thoughts.
The L-Tube design works well, allowing you to use long wood and minimize feeding, although you do need to push the wood forward every few minutes.
I think your "cooktop" will get hot enough to cook on after the core has heated up.
I do not think your oven will reach and maintain a cooking temperature for very long.
The highest and most of the heat from your stove is coming out of the riser.
Yes, the metal plate will heat, and eventually so will your oven, but not very efficiently.

Perhaps, a different method would be to mount a steel plate over the riser.  Warpage could be a concern if placed too close.
An insulated box could be on the plate as an oven and the rest would be a griddle.
This will provide a quicker heat up for cooking.

We have a poster from Guernsey that builds very functional rocket cookstoves.
You might spend some time reading his threads they are very informative.
Here is a link to one of his earlier threads.

I don’t have much to add. Thomas, you already found the video that I had in the back of my head. Here’s the link to it directly, from the chat you linked.
