I love popcorn. Because we try to eat with the seasons you could say that right now we are "on the" carnivore or keto diet ha.

The grain goes to the animals and we eat the animals. We have nursed some arugula and other greens along but mostly meat, except popcorn!

I love the stuff.

1/3 cup kernels
2 T olive oil
1 T butter
Pop in a 3 qt pot

I find that if I increase the pot size to make more, it does not turn out the same and also if I make more than 4 batches in the 3 QT pot, the 5th is not the same. We use a triple clad SS 3 QT pot and lid.

When we have Adobo seasoning, it can be pretty tasty as a dusting but I normally dust with garlic powder and salt. I have heard brewers yeast can be good.

Anything else I should try? What is your favorite recipe or seasoning?

go to a wholesaleer like azurestandard and buy a 25 lb bag.  It's super cost effective!  much much cheaper than buying at the grocery store or online!  Corn and popcorn is actually  really good for you, so eat up.

and since you asked for advice: the number 1 killer in America is heart disease and stroke.  you can significantly decrease your chances of getting heart disease and a number of other maladies by skipping the butter and meat/dairy.

Thank you for the suggestions! We had just been checking into azure standard. This is timely, I will look at their popcorn.

Maybe - there seems to be more and more evidence that for some people, seed oils, particularly combined with simple carbohydrates and sugar, are hugely responsible for weight gain.

My ancestors ate decent amounts of all sorts of meats and whole dairy products and my mom lived to 90 years and was on no medications whatsoever.

Avoiding sugared drinks of any sort (much fruit juice has "concentrated" juice added to make them sweeter to taste) has helped some people reduce their weight also. I drink well water primarily, and herbal teas with some green tea when I'm in the mood.

It does seem that, based on the historically available foods, sugar would have been in short supply, carbs next because they were fed to livestock, whereas meat and dairy would not have been.

President Eisenhower's heart attack started the low fat diet in 1955 and so the simple question may be: Are we as a nation healthier now, with a high carb and sugar diet, than we were then?

Edit: I don't mean to take the post off track but despite what has been said, I still love popcorn!

Absolutely! As a child it was the one snack food we had available and I loved it with just salt and butter.

Memory Lane: The Beatles North American debut was on the Ed Sullivan show. My parents were out and our teenaged babysitter was so excited about the Beatles that she burned the popcorn. I was quite disappointed!

We make stovetop popcorn similar to your method, but in a wok. I’ve found toasted sesame oil (the orange stuff you find in the Asian aisle at grocery stores) is tops for popping. I sometimes drizzle in maple syrup and cook it another 10 seconds or so to make “kettle corn.”
