I bought a bell, a good loud call you for dinner, wake the neighbors up in case of fire, neat looking bell!
Heavy brass (I assume.)  It currently has a fishing weight as a clapper, and a lamp part as a actuator.  
Looks like it was cut off of something, and that it used to hook to something on top.

What was this made for?
