That's right folks, we're doing product promos and give-aways here on Permies.

We think it's a great way to say Thank-you for making Permies a great place to hang out, learn, and make new friends.

So! We're starting off with a really handy item that everyone can use:

a USB Rechargeable Headlamp, courtesy of Permies member, Patrick Freeburger.

Here's what Patrick has to say:

Dear Fellow Permies,

You were instrumental in helping me launch my Hori Hori Knife on Amazon last year. Thank you very much.

This year I am introducing a Rechargeable Headlamp. It has 160 lumens, a broad light pattern excellent for reading and task lighting, comes in 4 colors, has no plastic packaging, and best of all, it's rechargeable.

I use this headlamp everyday on my homestead. It is a great task light that I can use to check on my chickens, walk around at night, make emergency repairs, etc. And when you notice it start to get dim, just charge it back up with the USB connector. It will work for years headache free. And just like the Hori Hori Knife, it is a high quality product and a must-have for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to be a little more sustainable.

Please check it out. I think you will be really happy with it.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Patrick
Patrick@veriglow.com

More info from the Amazon listing:

- 1200mA battery will last for a good for 7-8 hours on the Low setting; 3-4 hours on the Full setting; and 12+ hours on the SOS setting.
- Comfortable - weighs only 2.5 ounces; water resistant; and adjustable extra large headband for any head or helmet.

~

So, what do you think?
Do you want to win your very own rechargeable headlamp?

Here's how:

Post a thread in the gear forums - not this thread - telling us about your favorite piece of gear, asking about other people's favorite pieces of gear - or talk about headlamps! - and generally engage in some of the awesome chit chat that Permies is famous for! And, if you win or buy one of these headlamps, please leave a review in this thread.

Winners will be chosen from new threads started between Monday, March 13 and Friday, March 17, 2017

So, get out to the gear forums this week, and let's get some conversations started.

Patrick has graciously offered to give away 4 of these little beauties! So think of something you've always wanted to know or share about gear, and start a rousing thread about it.

Where to purchase:

Thank you, Tracy.

We have had great feedback so far on the light beam width and brightness.  I am also offering an extra 20% off for Permies this week (over the current sale I have on Amazon).
Go to: Amazon and enter code Permies2 at checkout.

I am just asking people who buy or win write up a quick review for me on amazon to help drive awareness.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the product.

Thanks again.
Patrick

My most useful "gear" item to date has been a rechargeable LED flashlight with a flexible body, magnetic to attach to metal for those times when you need two hands, and with a focus capability from wide angle to narrow beam. Very useful, especially working around and under my tractor, or looking for foxes at night. CountryBoy

We love our Ivation Battery powered shower.  We tried two others that required a lot of D batteries and didn't do a good job.  The Ivation takes the water from a 5 gallon bucket and gives a great shower.  You can turn it off and on and it is recharged by usb.

Lee, why don't you start a thread in the gear forum and tell us about your flashlight?

This looks like a great product and great price point.  I love headlamps - they have been a game changer for me for camping/backpacking and outdoor chores during the dark of winter.

p.s. - I'm buying one to try it out.

Just got mine in the mail! I'll be putting it through its paces, but the first thing I noticed - and LOVE - is that they come in nice little unprinted cardboard boxes! No plastic container that you have to hack through with a boxcutter, no little plastic bags for each element, no plastic stickers one everything. Brilliant!

Stay tuned for my review!

Tracy,
I agree.  I hate unnecessary plastic.  I was trying to keep it as clean and simple as possible, but still attractive.

Patrick, I was wondering how small the band on the headlamp can go. My three year old loves wearing headlamps, but he's always burning out the batteries in our current ones. Yours is rechargeable, which sounds perfect for him, but I want to make sure it will actually fit his head. Thank you!

Hi Nicole;

I can answer that question, as I have one right here! It definitely goes small enough for a three year old's little noggin'. Just perfect for little explorers.

It is the preferred night light of my 5 year old.  If I forget to turn it off, it's easy to recharge the next day.

Thank you! I also noticed that Patrick has a green light head lamp. It's really tempting, since my son loves the blue/red light one we already have. Decisions, decisions!

Nicole, Liz, Lisa,
Let Tracy know what body color you want (Blue, Red, Orange, or Green) and you can have the white light or the green light one.

Yes, I have both Green light and White light headlamps.

Also I appreciate all the Permie support.  I added a new discount code Permies3 to continue the discount for another 2 months.  Again, if you buy it I just ask that you leave a quick review on Amazon, they really help.  Please leave the review after a day or two - you can always change it later if something happens later (You can also email me and I will fix it.   )  Thanks again.

We got our headlamp today! Yay! So far, we're all very impressed by it.

My three year old son says, "It's red. I like red!"
My Husband says, "It's so bright, it's like our own little patch of sunlight!" And, "Now I won't get trampled by deer when I bring in firewood!" (A few months back, he'd been out getting firewood in the dark with a different head lamp, and heard loud footsteps thudding quickly behind him. He looked with his headlamp to try and figure out WHAT went running behind him in the dark, and never did find out because the head lamp was not very strong).

I looks a lot "prettier" in person than it does online (not that appearances matter, but the white of the headlamp body with the yellow light inside kind of clashes. In person, it doesn't clash as much. My husband nostalgically says it reminds him of the 80's). It is VERY bright (like you might damage your kid's eyes if they spend too much time staring directly at the LEDs), and it illuminates a large area. When we tried it in my son's room, it lit the whole room up over half as bright as his ceiling light does (quite impressive). It's also so bright that, when we turned it on with all our normal ceiling lights on, and evening light coming through the windows, you could still see a distinct illumination from the headlamp on the wall.

All in all, we're very impressed by the head lamp, and my son and husband can't wait to take it on one of their nighttime adventures running around in the dark outside. I also love that it's rechargeable. I'm sure it will come in handy in a power outage, especially since we should be able to recharge it on our hand-crank/solar radio if we need to. Thank you!

Received mine this week and I agree it is a nice headlamp, especially at that price point.  Very bright, seems well constructed, and enough battery life for a weekend camping/backpacking outing or chores around the house.  And very light, and rechargeable.  I'm really happy with it.

Bryan, Nicole, Liz, Tracy, and all Permies who bought a headlamp,

I would greatly appreciate if you can cut and paste your comments and post them on Amazon or just write a few words:
Amazon Review - Blue Body
Amazon Review - Green Body
Amazon Review - Orange Body
Amazon Review - Red Body

For the winners, you do not have to buy something on Amazon to post a review - it does not post as a 'verified purchase', but it still posts!

Nicole,
Thanks for the gaudy yellow phosphor comment - I changed the lead photo on Amazon and I hope it helps with sales conversion - once people get it, they really seem to like it.

To Todd and everyone who has already posted a comment on Amazon.  THANK YOU!

Regards,
Patrick

I got the headlamp on the 3rd when we went to Omak. UPS does not ship to P.O. boxes.
I enjoy the fact that it is very light and I am looking forward to using it in the early morning for milking. I'm so used to making sure everything is done before dark that I haven't used it yet.

The only cure for that is hours of television radiation. And this tiny ad:
