Coming though. Hold the door. Hold my beer. You are hot but I have to chat with the crowd now. Here is my number. Call me......

Hi. This is C5 here, or Category5. I was just passing through, responding to an old post...

But it bought up a subject that deserves it own post.

I present, The Ancient Chinese Wheelbarrow. This deserves far more attention than I can possibly do on my own site. This is darned usefull for those considering a world of declining resources...and cultural collapse.

http://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2011/12/the-chinese-wheelbarrow.html

Permies can do a far better job than I can, spreading the "Old" news.... and doing the actual experiments. This should be a Permies "Job", other than just me.

I am passing the torch to you folks. Verile and obsessive compulsive as you folks are

I was just passing through because I have my own site now and dont plan on being a regular poster here. I have my own stuff to do. Next week I should have something up on permaculture Terracing for survival junk land. Advive from the Incas... before we head to the Amazon. https://darkgreenmountainsurvivalresearchcentre.wordpress.com/

Please consider, building and experimenting on... and report what you think to the Permaculture world. Its "top of the list" of permaculture experiments I plan to build. This will be great for hauling firewood logs out of the bush and down to the doomstead to be bucked up.

Tell us what you think. Thanks

For Fans of the "Long Tail" cargo bikes, It works on the same principal as the old school chinese wheel barrow. It destributes the weight the same way. Similar vehicles. Reverse engineering might be usefull. A crafty engineer might be able to drop the weight lower and improve on the ancient design....like the Long Tail bikes

Some one has asked me to build one of these, myself, and do the photo documentary. It might take a while fore me though. After this volenteering post in Peru, we will be back at the farm for a couple months then off to another posting in the Bahamas for another 6-8 months. There will soon be another series starting. Survival advice from the Caribeans. What is a few Catigory 5 hurricanes between me and giving good survival advice. The gods seem to be asking me to play.

In the mean time... It would be nice if someone else took up the challenge. Consider it competition.

Built a zoning code dodging "chookwagon" for my hens, put the wheels near center of mass, Chinese wheelbarrow style.
It's up on blocks, but built to roll.
A low center of mass two wheeler plus a set of movable rails could get a lot done on a property.

You didn't ask if I was naked, you asked if I was decent. This is a decent, naked, tiny ad:
