Paul Wheaton, our own Duke of Permaculture and self professed Giant Doofus in Overalls, is going to be rambling in the Crowdfunding forum now through June 29th, 2018. Learn cool secrets, share tips and experiences, find out what content creation is all about, get the low-down on his secrets to crowdfunding success . . . and more! More is good!

This "more" includes how he has done Kickstarters in the past, and the importance of social media and getting the word out.

Prize winners can choose ONE of the following artifacts from his previous Kickstarter campaigns:

HD streaming videos:
Better wood heat: DIY rocket mass heaters
Wood Burning Stoves 2.0
World Domination Gardening
"live" Permaculture Design Course  video from 2017's event (not the ATC)

Physical Reward:
2 decks of the Permaculture Playing Cards

At the end of the week, we'll have a drawing for 4 lucky winners to each pick ONE of the above prizes! From now until Friday, all new posts in the Crowdfunding forum are eligible to win.

The winners will be notified by Personal Moosage and must respond within 48 hours. Only the winners who respond within that timeframe will claim their prize. Watch for a PM, and a notice in this thread announcing the winners!

Please remember that we favor perennial discussion. The threads you start will last beyond the event. You don't need to use Paul's name get his attention. We like these threads to be accessible to everyone, and some people may not post their experiences if the thread is directed to only the the Man-Who-Loves-Pie.

Posts in this thread won't count as an entry to win a prize, but you're more than welcome to wave at Paul if you really want to!

Here's some pretty pictures of the prizes to potentially pick from:

Better wood heat: DIY rocket mass heaters

Wood Burning Stoves 2.0

World Domination Gardening

"Live" PDC video from the 2017 Permaculture Design Course

2 decks of the Permaculture Playing Cards

Since folks can see a lot of, "Hey YOU, your post has been moved to this topic" (which is a question asked), as this thread is for saying - "Hey, Paul - you look mighty awesome in them there overalls!", or something. This topic doesn't count for entries, so go ahead and make a topic with your question as the first post in it.

Just friendly reminder from your International Permies Staff.

Wait, i don't understand.  The title is "Ask Paul Wheaton your crowdfunding questions,"  I had several questions.  Did I post in the wrong place?

I did indeed express some gratitude, perhaps that was too much and you would like the questions shorter?

Or did I totally screw up and miss the point entirely?  As in, "Ask Paul Wheaton your crowdfunding questions- about his latest Kickstarter?"

Lol, would not be the first time.  Perceiving differently has its downside.

Nope, we aren't punishing you.  Questions are good.

It's just that posts in this thread are not eligible to win a prize.

Besides, there are some great questions here that deserve their own topic.  This kind of thread has a habit of falling away to the bottom after a few months, so questions here might get lost over time.  By giving the question its own thread, it's more welcoming to perennial discussion.

Two birds, one stone.  We split the threads so your questions can get more attention and to give you a chance to win a prize.

I definitely don't want to put more on your plate, but is there any way to get interim updates on how my custom link is performing, or any information at all about traffic and/or conversions?

Chad, for your link, there is exactly 1 pledge for $10.

Would you like more links to try more things?

Indeed I would like more links.  Maybe 5 more?

And since they would all be "my" links, and you have a two-pledge minimum stipulation, does the cumulative total count, or must it be per-link?

Thanks!

Chad, send me an email telling me what you would like to name the five links.  Unless, you just want them names "chad 2", "chad 3" etc.

The cumulative total.  My only concern is that last time people just got themselves a 20% discount - I don't think they actually told anybody about the kickstarter.  This is for people that share the link.

Thanks, Paul for hanging out with us and sharing your wisdom.  I learned loads and hope to put it into action soon.  So glad your Kickstarter met its funding.  Here's hoping you make every stretch goal.  Those are some pretty excellent rewards.

Congratulations to this week's winners.

You'll be receiving a PM shortly and have 48 hours to respond.

For those of you who didn't win (dare I say lost?), check out Paul's ultra-super-awesome Kickstarter.  Even if a rocket oven isn't in your immediate future, this is an excellent opportunity to snatch some swag at a huge discount.
