I'm finishing my way through the 6 episodes in this year's MST3K Gauntlet:

First important question....do you love MST3K?

Second important question....what's your favorite episode?  (and if you have one....favorite song and riffs)

I love this show too much!

I clicked this because I didn't know what MST3K stood for. It's Mystery Science Theater 3000! I loved that show. I remember some movie that had sharks and all the underwater scenes just happened with a solid blue background to indicate water. It was soooooo horribly cheesy. But, I have no idea what the name of the movie was.

I don't know that one Dan, tell me more!  My garden is frozen and snow covered, and the short days up here in Maine are making me come home in the dark, so I have time for hanging out by the fire with some snacks and some MST3K.

I LOVE MST3K - have since the 90s!  Definitely a Joel fan.... the Gamera movies were probably my favorites, but Manos, The Hands of Fate is the accident from which you can't turn away.  Back when the Comedy Channel actually aired things that were funny.... old SNLs, Dr. Katz, French and Saunders, SCTV, Monty Python, Kids In The Hall... etc.... I never missed the Thanksgiving MST3K marathon!  I never watch the network anymore - just angry people being nasty and sarcastic... oh well.

Joel is the man!!! Have you by any chance seen the show "Otherspace" (aired on Yahoo Screen)?  I think you will love it.  Joel is a ship's engineer who, get this, has a robot friend!  Super funny show.  Anyhow, I don't see Wild Rebels in your list  "Crispy Fruity Rebels" has been in my head ever since.

I'll definitely check that out - thanks!  You know like... "In the not too distant future, next Sunday A.D."....  I think the first couple of seasons were my favorites because the movies weren't always absolutely awful - a lot of them were cult classics.  Now, as for a riff song... "He's a danger too himself and others, he watches movies starring Sally Struthers"... I can't recall which episode that came from, though... maybe "Eegah" or "The Crawling Hand"

When I was in college my housemates always had MST going and I apparently picked up more than I thought. Just the other day I shouted out 'EVEN THE NAME SAYS, IS THAT A BEER??' and then had a devil of a time explaining to my husband why it was funny. "There's these robot puppet things, see, and they watch old crappy sci-fi movies...."

(my nephew is named Mitchell. I still snigger inside.)

Hey, sticks and stones baby. And maybe a wee mention of my stuff:
