This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Plumbing.

In this Badge Bit, you will fix a leak in a hot or cold water supply line.  We're talking a permanent fix, not a clamp or emergency quick fix.  Leaks suck, let's fix one before it ruins the flooring!

Here's a video of fixing a copper pipe leak:

And a PEX leak in a crawlspace (looks like fun):

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
  - fix a leak
  - the repair needs to be permanent

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, provide proof of the following as pics or video (less than two minutes):
  - the leak you're starting with
  - the repair midway through
  - the fixed leak

I fixed a leak!  The missus said that there was water on the floor by the well.  Uh oh...  Determined it was a leak where an old valve connected to the CPVC piping just after the well.  Luckily there was a union just after it so I shut off the water, loosened the union and tightened the CPVC into the valve.  Repressurized and...  still leaked   OK, took it fully apart the second time and put new pipe dope on the connection and retightened and repressurized and...  still leaked

Went to hardware store and got a new ball valve (hey there's a BB for that as well that I'll do shortly).  Put that in with the hopes that the threads on the old valve weren't the best.  Repressurized and...  still leaked  Ok, needed to replace the CPVC threaded bit.  But it was too tight to the wall so I had to replace it, the union and the elbow.  Got those parts, glued it together and...  It worked!

Hey, I found some older pictures of a leak I fixed when I was replacing the pressure tank a year ago.  Please note that this was many months separated from the leak I fixed in the post just above.  It was one of those annoying situations where you're not sure if you can tighten it one more full turn.  But after taking it apart, re-doping it and really wrenching on it, it was fixed.
