This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Plumbing.

In this Badge Bit, you will extend a plumbing run to a new location.  Want to add a faucet on the back of the house?  Let's run some plumbing pipe!

Here's one where they're running hot and cold to an outdoor fancy faucet:

Running hot or cold is 1 point each

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
  - extend a plumbing system to a new location
  - solder, pex, crimp, etc is fine as long as it's a permanent installation

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, provide proof of the following as pics or video (less than two minutes):
  - the piping before you start
  - the project halfway through
  - the finished project
  - water coming out at the new location

I turned a bedroom into a bathroom.  Doing so required some plumbing work.  I didn't know about PEP at the time or I'd have even better/more pictures.  I'll only claim the shower and sink since I didn't get toilet plumbing pics :(  Since it's the straw badge and we can do up to 10 points of duplication, I'll post the sink first, then the shower...

Ijust extended our underground well line 100 feet to place a new yard hydrant at our orchard. Will that satisfy this bb for cold? The langauge dies not specify interior plumbing, but I wanted to check first.

Good question.  I think that project could be covered in either of two approaches.

You could post the extension of the line under this BB or under Trench water to a hydrant.

In either case I think you could also get Install a hydrant

Hey PEP-folks,

This is the supply-side of the sink project, also documented here: https://permies.com/p/2329660 , which has more of the discussion. This project tapped the lines to/from my solar rooftop heater (documented here: https://permies.com/p/1944458), as the schematic details. It also produces two new points on connection, hot/cold for the utility sink, and solar-preheated/hot-to-house for the gas HWH to pick up. If the bypass provision for the future gas hot-water heater counts as further extensions, I'm happy of any extra points, but I leave it to the wisdom of the moderators. I did supply water-out photos of the HWH taps, if that helps the case for double-dipping.

Happy homesteading!
Mark
