This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the wood badge in woodland care.

In this Badge Bit, you will make lumber!

Making Lumber:

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are to make lumber.
  - For the required dimensions you need to meet or exceed them
         - i.e. instead of a 1"x4"x8' you can make a 1"x8"x12'

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide proof of the following as pictures or a video (<2 mins):
   - harvesting some of the logs you make into lumber
   - action shot of making lumber
   - finished stacks of lumber as follows:
          o 8 dozen 2x4s eight feet long
          o 8 dozen 1x4s eight feet long
o 8 dozen ⅜ inch by 4 inch eight feet long

I borrowed a friend's sawmill and took care of three big white pines and a tamarack.  The saw's capacity was 6" so I made a lot of 1x6s and a healthy number of 2x4s and 2x6s.  I did enough to get me through the Straw and Wood level so the pictures may be the same.  These are all around 100" long so a bit over 8'.

In the big stack there are 14 2x4s per layer and 11 2x6 or 1x6 boards per layer.

So the big stack has 6 layers of 2x4 = 84 plus 1 layer of 2x6 = 11 and two at the very top which is a total of 97 "2x4s or greater"
The big stack also has 29 layers of 1x6 x 11 = 319 boards that are bigger than 1x4s or 3/8x4

The big stack is my submission for Wood badge

The little stack is my submission for Straw badge.
