Hands On Agronomy

See why this is one of Paul Wheaton's all-time favorites!  Never-before offered as a digital movie, a Permies exclusive, courtesy of Acres USA.

From the back of the DVD:

Neal Kinsey draws on his wide range of experience as a soil fertility consultant to deliver valuable knowledge in an entertaining, anecdotal style. An essential tool for the student as well as the veteran farmer who seeks to maximize crop vield, this 80-minute presentation covers the essentials of soil balancing,
Accurate Soil Analyses are the cornerstone for keeping plant soils healthy and productive. Proper soil sampling techniques, such as knowing when to take a sample, what soil to collect and why placement is crucial, are covered in depth.

Soil Audit readouts must be sufficiently detailed, clear and understood before a farmer can maximize crop yield. Kinsey explains what to expect from an audit and why it is important to know each individual soil system - the cation exchange capacities, base saturation percentages, humus levels, etc.
Major Fertility Elements must be balanced to provide plant sustenance without blocking other important soil ingredients. In a section-by-section analysis, Kinsey discusses the nuances of each element and its proper application. He tells why the source of calcium is as important as the amount, how high potassium levels create weed pressures, and why over-liming can be dangerous for your crops.

Manures & Micronutrients round out his lessons. Kinsey explains the different applications and common pitfalls of various manures, and he discusses the costly implications of overlooking micronutrients in the soil.

Neal Kinsey has been called a "consultant's consultant." Through his in-depth courses, he has trained hundreds of consultants and sophisticated growers in the methodology of soil element balancing utilizing cation exchange capacity. He specializes in building and maintaining soil for quality crop production. In addition to consulting on standard crops such as corn, cotton, soybeans, rice, wheat and grain sorghum, he has done the soil work on such specialties as wine and table grapes, coffee, alfalfa, pastures, clovers, oats, melons, almonds, avocados, turfgrass, and dozens of other crops around the world.

The most significant lessons from Neal Kinsey are covered in this engaging video. He offers a sophisticated, clear technique of fertility management that emphasizes balance rather than just the number of fertility factors. It works with a variety of conventional and organic crops and soils. The foundation of all of his teachings is to feed the soil and let the earth feed the plant, which is a stark contrast to current methods that solely use N-P-K and pH and regard soil only as a physical support media for plants.

The Albrecht soil classification system is discussed, along with the right way to test your soil and how to read the findings.

Hello, I am confused. Is this the actual Kinsey video workshop, or a review/commentary about it?

Both.

This is a 60 minute movie called "hands on agronomy" - that is a thing that must be purchased.  And there is a free, podcast review of that movie.
