Paul once again calls up Alan Booker after the long hiatus to catch up on what’s been happening at Paul’s in that time along with some future plans.
First thing: the Garden Master course starts in a little over 2 weeks (Jan 2nd) with Helen claiming that it’ll be a full 40% better than the already impressive one this year, thanks to the experience gained from teaching it. This is in a rather stark contrast what Paul saw of her teaching of the Master Garden course over 17 years, in which she seemed to get a lot more stressed about the whole thing thanks to the requirements dumped on her. Furthermore, Alan found that when you sign up to become a master gardener, you agree to do time essentially advocating for the use of pesticides that fund the course to people that ask questions, even if you have peer-reviewed studies showing that they are harmful.
Overall, despite this year being very exciting and productive for Paul, he spread himself out too much and made himself somewhat sick, to the extent of going to hospital. Fortunately, he’s recovered and the pods can now flow again. One of the big things that he’s more proud of this year is the Kickstarter for releasing the 2022 Garden Master course. At time of recording, it’s being edited and any redundant bits are being trimmed out, along with some animations being added for clarity and general polish. He’s also managed to get both the free heat and greenhouse movies released, along with an extra-long video of just building the greenhouse from Josiah. Oh, and because he’s apparently not learned his lesson, there’ll be a rocket mass heater tour taking place immediately after the Garden Master course wraps up.
