Willow feeders separate poo and pee, so its better to just pee outside, here is a breakdown, specially for the ladies!

Maybe it will be useful to have more information on what the willow feeder feeds? Well willows obviously, but not everyone may have use for a lot of willow. (It seems like a mediocre grade firewood.) Can other plants take the willow feeder output in smaller quantities and thrive? (I'm guessing so, as "night soil" used to be a common fertilizer before synthetic fertilizers.) That kind of information would be valuable.

Regarding this key claim: "An interesting thing about pathogens ...  99% of them die in about two months.  That number goes up to 99.999% in six months.  And 99.9999999999% in two years.  Faster in a dry environment. " A number of us who want to implement a willow feeder will need to convince not only themselves but skeptics around them regarding this claim. People will bring up worms, eggs of worms, etc. So some pointers to some authoritative research backing this claim will aid adoption.

I understand that the product is superior in nutrients to compost, but if the product is only usable for willows, it is a product of limited use. I was hoping that the Wiki would say that it has wider use. I was also hoping to hear a claim that willow itself has wider use.

This is a fair consideration, but willows are very useful plants that can handle very wide ranges of nutrients from barren river gravels to outhouse drain fields. In addition to weaving material, they make excellent composting or mulching biomass. They can also be soaked in water for a rooting hormone source for cuttings or seedlings. That liquid can also be used as a compost tea addition or on its own for foliar application. The growth hormones improve vigor and also seem to help with disease resistance. Willows and the habitats which grow them are also very fire resistant, as demonstrated by Australian firefighters noting where these “invasive” plants (to Australia) are as a potentially lifesaving evacuation zone.

Thanks for pointing out the importance of willows as fire retardant for firefighters and evacuees.

As a resident both in a suburb and with country property I can attest to your information.

I would point out too, that the wildfires we often hear about in the US and more recently globally indicate to me that it is good to have them on your property if you are in a fire risk zone. Willows are an amazing multi-use tree as you have pointed out.

I love all this. Very good to learn.

It's still such a change and feels so unnatural to try to separate poo and pee depending on whatever the body feels like doing at the time.

I bet there is some way there could be a contraption that does the separation automagically.
