Seems like a gathering where people can feel the glory of a rocket mass heater is nice!  Early fall?

I will be doing a potluck west of portland on september 7.    So maybe september 8?  Since that is a monday, perhaps it could start at 5:30 in the evening?

That sounds good! We can do September 8th at 5:30pm.

Let me know the next step for making it official, sharing details, and inviting others.

And let me know if you want the guest room, so I can have it made up for you!

For anyone who is interested in coming to any of these gatherings with Paul, watch the thread the event is posted in. Some folks posted address and directions, and other hosts will PM the address to everyone that expressed interest.

In other words, your post " I want to come" serves as an RSVP.

I will stay the previous night at julia's place.

I do the potluck at your place on the 7th.  Noon?

So I would like to have a place to stay on the night of the 7th.

I have another potluck a couple of hours north late on the 8th.  Maybe I will make a run for beach on the morning of the 8th?

Alaska, as good as it sounds, is a little far. Paul is willing to drive 7 or 8 hours from his Montana home.

Let’s see what he has to say about it, though!

Liv- I agree. Would love to have him come to Alaska. Not sure what area your in but there are plenty of us here who would love some time with his knowledge. I bet just out here in the upper valley we could come up with at least a dozen.

Hey Paul,

Ditto that this tour of your seems to be filling up very quickly. However, we would love to host you at Past Lives Makerspace in Portland, Oregon if you can swing it.

Past Lives is a hands-on makerspace in SE Portland with a large community and excellent facilities including wood shop, blacksmithing and metal shop, ceramics studio, hot and cold glass studio and more. We have an adjacent urban garden, several food independence initiatives, and weekly potlucks. Potlucks are now on Thursdays (so i.e. Sep 4).

I've personally been using the space for about a year now. I raised the roof and renovated my school bus conversion, and will be using the metal shop when I resume the wood gasification project I posted about here on Permies some time ago.

Very last minute, but it would be great to see you. Put it on your radar!

All the Best,
Billy

That would work great! We'd love to give you a quick tour of the place and share some food.

We have community meals on Thusdays, and potlucks on the last of the month. Meals are always in our community kitchen at the makerspace,  2808 SE 9th Ave, Portland Oregon.

roughly 6pm-9pm

EDIT: Great to meet you, Paul! I will be happy to share your work and projects with the homestead-minded among Hedron Hackerspace and other DIY communities in the area.

Hi I'm writing for Star Community in South Seattle, and we would love to host you for a potluck! Fridays are ideal, but we could probably swing most any evening that works for you. Lots of permaculture fans here and followers of your work. We are a community of 18 adults, and we'd welcome anyone else who can come.

Mark ludeman here with Healing Ponds Farm and Retreat Center
Paul came sunday for our 12 noon potluck. It was a fantastic event. We had 29 attendees, if you count the kids. Paul talked for an hour or so. Gave out copies of his book, "Skip," and a flyer showing all the things he has going on, as well as walking onions and kale to grow in our Garden.
We had a wonderful potluck. After Paul's Talk, those who wanted stayed and chatted till around five.
The event was held outside at out campsite picnic area next to the pond. Even the Pond Turtle made a appearance.
Paul stayed the night at our place, allowing us to talk to him till nine
We are so happy he came, and all the lovely people who attended, enabling us to meet so many new permaculture enthusiasts.

A little tidbit of how we got so many new people to come. I posted his coming as an event on over seven local Facebook community page.
And that is how the majority of the people found us.

What a wonderful experience and sharing

Paul, Friday Nov 7 would be outstanding!  (for potluck at Star Community in S Seattle)
Also if you need a place to stay before or after, or a home base for day trips, we have a guest room on offer too.
How do I communicate with you other than in this thread?

Maybe 5pm?  (I struggled to stay awake when the potluck started at 5:30 about 90 minutes south of seattle.  I'm used to going to bed at 7 mountain time (6 pacific)).

We need to create a thread in the cascadia forum about this!

I will need that guest room!  thank you!

Contact:  I will email you soon.  Probably after the new thread is created.

At the moment, I am talking to a couple of different people in bellingham to see if there will be something there. And then I have hopes that somebody in olympia or yakima will set something up - which seems like it won't be happening.  In a few days, I will have clarity on where portland fits into all this.

Probably?

If you'll be in Bellingham, I'm there! That's about as far away as I can get without hiring a goat milker/sitter.
